It’s actually a principle and it’s by far the most important factor in achieving long-term successful weight loss if you’re a woman. Progressive Overload is the most important fitness principle for your weight training program. Whether you work out in the gym or work out at home, you need to apply progressive overload to your workout if you want to see continual, long-term results.
Progressive overload can be thought of as progressively increasing the load of your program to continually add increased challenge to you over time. Doing so forces your body to continually grow, helps you break through plateaus and helps you see more and more results as time goes by. This also stops your program from becoming stale because it’s always in motion to combat our body’s greatest foe, time itself.
Think of it this way, as time tries to break down muscle, progressive overload forces you to gain muscle. Applying progressive overload helps stop, or at least dramatically slow the aging process down when it comes to muscle loss and the host of other issues that come with the loss of muscle. The reason progressive overload is especially important for women is that women are far more prone to muscle loss and at risk for musculoskeletal ailments such as osteoporosis as they age.
Here’s how to apply progressive overload. When it comes to cardio, simply go a little bit further, a bit faster or a bit more often. By a bit, we’re talking adding about 4-5% increases to your program. For example: If you were going to run 4-5% longer than your 30 minute jog, you’d end up running about 1.5 minutes longer. You could also try going faster by trying to cover 5% more distance during your 30 minute jog. It’s not a lot but, it does the job and over time, it’ll add up. If you were lifting weights, apply the same percentage of overload.
You should look to add progressive overload in 2-week increments as a general guideline. In other words, add 5% extra load every two weeks to your weight training program. Now that you’re clear on how to add progressive overload, let’s add one more guideline to your program.
You can’t add progressive overload to your work out every two weeks indefinitely. Eventually, your body is going to need a breather so here’s what you do. Follow a two steps forward, one step back pattern. For example: If you’re on a staircase, climb two steps in a row, then step back one, then climb two more. If you’re a little confused, try it on the steps and it’ll make perfect sense. When you start climbing the steps, you’ll notice that you eventually get to the top and you’ll notice that there are times when you drop back to a load you did a few steps ago. This allows your body to build a little then recover and then build a little more. It’s the perfect format for getting long-term continual results from your program.
It’s also so important workout for women format to follow because women don’t gain muscle as easily as men do. Now don’t worry, this isn’t going to ‘bulk’ you up. A very serious weight program only adds about 1 pound of muscle per month so there should be no concern regarding getting too big…it just won’t happen.
Here’s what will happen when you add progressive overload to your work out program as a woman: You’ll get thinner thighs, a tighter waist, leaner arms and smooth lines where you never thought you’d see smooth lines.

Trying to get a solid six pack can be very frusteration, especially when you are doing hundreds or even thousands of sit-ups everyday and not seeing any results to a flat stomach. In this article I will discuss all the best lower ab workouts you can do as well as workouts for you abs out of the gym.
So here we go first off some of the best things for your abs are gonna be movements that reduce your overall stability. Meaning when you are doing regular sit-ups your only hitting a particular part of the muscle. By moving in different angles and ways you will be hitting all your abdominal areas. This is one technique that will help increase your results hugely. Now you may be asking what ab workouts should I be doing for this.
These can be a number of different ones. You basically want to be doing these types of ab workouts on an are where it will take a little bit more to balance. For example an easy one that you can do almost anywhere would be walking across a beam or even a parking curb, anything where you have to keep your balance as you are walking. Pretty cool huh? Bet you didn’t know that kinda stuff works your abs to give you that lean 6 pack. Now don’t get me wrong this is just one of the many things you can do. This won’t technically cut it down for you.. You can also do workouts with free weights. Pretty much anything where you have to keep a little bit of balance in order to do the workouts. For an example bent over dumbell rows, or one armed shoulder presses and even one leg bicep curls.
My next thing for getting a great ab workout and getting that washboard six pack would be, those wonderful big ol excersise balls. These are some of the most important workouts you will do for your abs to get that sleek six pack. First you can do crunches with or without weight , depending on how advanced you are. You can also do leg lifts with them, (which will hurt like crazy but give you great results fast). Not only that but also any kind of leg raises are awesome for ab workouts, hanging leg raises are a killer along with any of the laying down leg raises. If you want to spice it up a bit and get even better results, throw some weight on there and see how well you can do.
Now one other thing I want to mention is that I know you all are wanting ripped cut abs that are gonna make people drool and be all jealous, is you also need to do some heavy abs workouts . By this I mean you need do some ab workouts with heavy weight. What this does is it gets your abs showing up alot better by popping out, it will also make the fat layer over them look alot smaller. Not only that but also will give you that strong stomach. You don’t have to do alot , just every once in a while throw a little change in there and do some heavy ab lifting..
As far as when to do your ab workouts , I recommend doing them every other day. This will still give them a chance for recovery as well as giving them the workout to get more and more ripped every week.
Now if you follow this plan and stick to a good diet including lots of veggies and protein you will have people asking you if you had surgery on your stomach in no time. They won’t believe how great your abs look. Just stick to the plan and remember consistency is the key to changing your body, never just give up keep going and believing and you will achieve you goal. To your success and Ill see ya in the gym.

The best way to achieve outstanding workout results is to design a fitness routine that delivers workout results right away. Most exercise workout participants don’t understand the word patience as they demand results right away.
It is not the results, so to speak, they want, but the benefits that workout results deliver. When you are starting a fitness routine you have such goals as decreasing body fat, increasing muscle tissue, improving self esteem, as well as possibly increasing longevity, and living an overall healthy life. Although most of the p90x system workouts are designed for men, yet it is a common misconception. P90x workout routines for women are not an abstract thing, rather more and more women are benefiting from such workout routines. Women specific diet plans and routines targeted at those muscle groups which are relatively under-worked in the case of women, are fast catching up.
Two examples of such women, who have achieved great fitness levels by following the p90x workout plan, are Audra S. and Tracy H. There is a marked difference in the number of repetitions of various exercise forms that these women could handle before, and after going on the routine. There is also a visible difference in the body measurements of both these women. All the facts and figures have been taken from the official beachbody website, and can be counter-confirmed from there, if needed. While Audra could manage only up to 27 push-ups before going in for the program, she can now manage 54. Her toe stretch has increased from 6′ to 8′ and her heartbeat has reduced from 116 to 109 after taking a four minute rest. From the before-after pictures, it is quite visible that Audra has given a phenomenal shape to her abs, breasts and legs, while maintaining a strikingly erect posture.
While Audra had a good fitness level before she adapted to the p90x system, Tracy remains a strikingly opposite example. Tracy could not do even 4 push ups before joining the program. Today, she can handle 16 push ups at a time. Although 16 is not too impressive a number, yet it is four times of what Tracy could otherwise manage. Her leg lifts have seen a remarkable change and have increased from a meager 96 to 300 after the completion of her 90 day workout program. Similarly, Adrian and Marren are two other prime examples of women who have made the best use of the p90x workout routines for women, and achieved the results they had always desired.
The formation of the ‘plateau’ is said to be a more prominent process in the case of women, as compared to men. ‘Plateau’, in fitness terms, refers to the process of the muscles getting accustomed to various exercise routines, which results in diminishing of the effectiveness of these routines. Muscle confusion, the principle on which the p90x system works, eliminates plateau formation and helps in keeping the peak effectiveness of an exercise intact. Basically, the body is in a constant change of motion for the complete period of 90 days, which means that it will never get accustomed to a particular type of exercise and it also means that you would not get bored of repeating the same routines over and over again.
Development of skill, flexibility and working coordination between the muscles and the senses is very important, all the more in the case of women. It has not even been a year since Nintendo released the Wii Fitness games in the USA and already people are beginning to change the way they workout. Instead of the mundane, repetitive workout routines that we have become accustomed to, whether going to the gym, or watching some fitness instructor on a video, the wii fit games are interactive, ever changing and engaging, and pulls out the competitive nature inside of us.
That is why it’s so appealing to so many people, you are having fun, competing, trying to better your score, working out, and tracking you progress in real time every step of the way. The wii fitness game will constantly challenge you based on the information you entered before your workout, and the game is smart enough to adjust to your workout level of fitness but is flexible enough for customization.

Nintendo Wii fitness line of games are not only for kids or teens but design to get all the members of the family involved and in shape, regardless of age of fitness level there is a game just for you.

The workout I got from this game is far superior to any aerobics workout class at your local gym. That is because you’re Virtual ‘Fitness Coach’ will tailor make each workout routine specifically for you, based on your gender, weight, fitness level, height, cardio rhythm and other vitals.
The wiifit games uses sensory controller devices to sense and react to your movements and balance, this is the key to the game’s effectiveness because you are constantly getting feed back on your performance and range of movement throughout each activity, so you will see and know that you are performing the movements correctly.
The games provide over 490 different workout activities so you can rest assured that you will not soon get bored with your exercise workout routines. Lots of sports type games also included for variety.
If you are just getting started or thinking about it, I would suggest starting off with the Wii Fitness bundle package, it comes with the console, the controllers, wii fitness board, sporting and workout games.
