When autumn arrives in my part of the country, it’s often accompanied by fog and rain. The vibrantly colored red, purple, orange and yellow leaves on maples, gingkoes, liquidambars, smoke bushes, and all trees and shrubs that have a colorful ‘faint’ into dormancy, are even more glorious with a gloss of moisture. The chilly Northwest damp also accentuates aromas; the ground smells pungent, leaves lose their juicy, ‘green’ summer scents and begin to smell like antique paper or old books. As wood smoke begins to swirl from chimneys, providing its own gray mist to the heavy air, I feel as if the entire city is burning incense to mourn the lost summer and to pay homage to the coming winter.Fall is a time of excitement and stillness; cool winds and refreshing rains energize me, while the sight of dead leaves slowly dropping to the ground, and the silence in the garden (most birds have headed south) put me into a contemplative state of mind. The perfumes I wear in autumn reflect these shifting moods of the season.There are few fragrance houses whose entire offerings I would happily wear Eau d’Italie is one such fragrance house. Bois d’Ombrie smells of wood, cognac, leather, incense, myrrh, tobacco and beeswax; wearing it is like stepping into a wood-paneled room of the Renaissance era, a room that’s absorbed centuries of delicious aromas.I often burn Papier d’Armnie to freshen rooms in my home. Now, I can walk about freshening spaces I move through. Annick Mnardo has created liquid Papier d’Armnie with her Bois d’Armnie perfume. Bois d’Armnie is part of the Art et la Matire line of scents by Guerlain and though it contains pink pepper, rose, iris, coriander, patchouli and musk, what I smell are the signature powdery fragrance notes of Papier d’Armnie benzoin, incense, amber and vanilla.For me, a ’sturdy’ (and simple) sandalwood perfume is a necessity for fall and winter and Santalum by Profumum fits the bill. It has a rich, slightly sweet, and long-lasting sandalwood fragrance, with added, but not distracting, notes of myrrh and cinnamon.A Dream: While touring some vetiver fields on a damp day, I am spotted by a spy from the Society for the Promotion of Ozone and Marine Notes in Male Perfumery/Mainstream Division. Seeing his chance to silence me forever, he waits till I wander into a deep, stony ditch and then topples 100 bales of dried vetiver roots onto me. I realize, to survive and write more negative reviews of mediocre men’s perfumes, I must use my hands and teeth to pull apart and gnaw thru the bales of tough vetiver roots that envelop me. As I emerge through the last bale of vetiver, I smell of cool moist earth and stones, ‘exertion’ and…vibrant vetiver. In other words, I smell like Vetiver by Etro. Though Etro’s Vetiver also contains artemisia, clary sage, cypress, cedar and tobacco vetiver root is the star of the cologne. If I were forced to downsize my perfume collection and could only keep one vetiver fragrance, I’d keep Etro Vetiver. Roll your eyes, gasp, thrust a hand to your mouth in shock, even laugh at me, but I’d choose Etro’s Vetiver over Herms’ Vetiver Tonka, Frederic Malle’s Vetiver Extraordinaire, Matre Parfumeur et Gantier’s Route du Vetiver and Guerlain’s Vetiver.I don’t possess a classic ‘comfort scent’ in my discount perfume arsenal. My comfort scent would not involve food (vanilla, rice pudding, apples, cinnamon); if I could create a comfort scent, it would smell of freshly shampooed English Bulldog or Pug. Since that is not about to happen, I will note one scent I find comforting and that I encounter this time of year: the scent of my wool sweaters. As I unpack my sweaters (the ones I forgot to dry clean before storing), I smell the ghostly remains of last fall’s (and winter’s) perfumes: sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouly and vetiver. Parfum d’Habit by Matre Parfumeur et Gantier smells like my ’scented’ wool sweaters and I love it.I won’t wear a simple wool sweater with my next fall fragrance selection: a tuxedo or finely tailored suit would be more apt. When I spray on Jacques Guerlain’s 1904 creation Mouchoir de Monsieur, with its bergamot and verbena, its rose and jasmine, its vanilla, fern and iris, my posture improves, my pronunciation and enunciation improve, I feel smooth, shiny, impeccable; I feel I could issue edicts and be obeyed. I’ll be giving gallery talks at the Seattle Art Museum this winter for a show called ‘Roman Art from the Louvre’ guess what scent I’ll be wearing as I talk, and walk, my way through the sculptures of gods and goddesses, the Caesars?Since I like cows and feel bad about buying products made from their skins, I take really good care of my leather goods, especially my leather bags. I buy a bag and use it till it falls apart, so I rarely get to smell ‘new’ leather. When my leather bag or backpack needs a leather ‘fix,’ I moisten a cotton ball with some Serge Lutens Cuir de Mauresque, stuff the cotton ball into a tiny glass pill bottle (uncapped), toss it into my bag and the scent of perfumed leather wafts from my old bag every time I open it. I wear Cuir de Mauresque on my body too; how can I resist its heady mix of myrrh, burnt styrax, incense, aloeswood, cedar, civet, cloves, cumin, cinnamon, orange blossom, nutmeg, mandarin peel, and jasmine? Such perfume luxury, and luxuriousness, seems most appropriate in autumn as heavy (’important’) jewelry, velvet, cashmere and, alas, furs start appearing everywhere.To commemorate my first visit to Paris, I wore a scent I had not tried before Penhaligon’s Hammam Bouquet (created in 1872). Many years later, I still love Paris and Hammam Bouquet’s sophisticated scent, made with rose, iris, jasmine, cedar, lavender, amber and sandalwood. My only gripe: the perfume extract version of Hammam Bouquet was discontinued. Note: if you ever call Hammam Bouquet a ‘grandfatherly’ scent in my presence, first, I will slap your face (not really, but I’ll WANT to), and then I’ll position you on my Perfume IQ list under: ‘Semi-ignorant; tastes/descriptive vocabulary: limited; refers to complex, classic scents as ‘old lady’ or ‘old man’ fragrances.’On London’s Jermyn Street, not far from one of Penhaligon’s London shops, you can buy Frankincense & Myrrh by Czech & Speake a marvelous, under-appreciated, under-worn, and virtually unknown (in the U.S.) unisex fragrance. Yes, there’s frankincense and myrrh in the perfume, but also the enchanting aromas of chamomile and fine sandalwood. Frankincense & Myrrh smells like ‘church,’ especially if the church was built in the 13th century and has been permeated with the scent of burning incense for hundreds of years.As fall arrives, I can’t forget my summer garden and the scented flowers it provided, so I buy real flowers in winter and ‘wear’ flowers in my perfumes. Kismet by Yosh reminds me of a protected, walled garden in a high desert the type of desert that’s warm and nurturing in day, and chilly at night. Kismet’s cool narcissus, chamomile, boronia and osmanthus act as foils for its ‘hotter’ cedar, frankincense and turmeric aromas this mix of coolness and warmth mimics the changeable days, and moods, of fall.

Many people dream about getting into great shape and showing off a strong, lean body. Unfortunately, for most people these thoughts remain only a dream. Why? Well, the biggest reason people fail to get in shape is the lack of time. After all, in today’s busy society it can seem impossible to dedicate hours to training sessions. Another discouraging factor, is the amount of time it takes to get results. Some basic routines can take months to get you toned. By the time you see a change in your body, you may already be bored with your fitness program.
Thankfully, there are ways to get fit quickly and without boredom. How? By using several different exercise methods to keep your body challenged and your mind interested. Neither cardio nor resistance training alone will do the trick. Rather, you need to implement a combination of both. Additionally, you need to do the right exercises and perform them properly. For beginners, this can be a challenge. However, many fitness trainers have produced their expert routines in formats that are easy for even beginners to use!
For example, several of the best home fitness programs come complete with DVDs and fitness/nutrition manuals, so you can see each exercise expertly performed. These routines challenge your body with everything from weight training to plyometrics (which uses explosive moves like jumping to enhance your fitness performance). Workouts like these are fantastic because they target specific muscles while contributing to total body fitness!
Of course, exercise doesn’t work alone. If you want to get fit fast, you will also need to practice proper nutrition. Keep in mind, this is not the same thing as going on a diet. A diet means simply reducing calories. However, a full nutrition plan works with your body giving it the fuel it needs to build muscle and burn fat. The best plans are not static. Instead, they work in short phases to get your body used to a new program and ultimately boost your metabolism. Some of them also emphasize necessary supplements that can boost your performance, build more muscle, and get results faster than you can imagine.
By taking the right steps, you can get fit fast. All you need to do is find an all-inclusive system; one specifically designed to get your body in top condition quickly. In fact, most people get dramatic results from fitness programs in only 90 days. Think about it, you could get in the best shape of your life in just three months. So, what are you waiting for? The sooner you get off the couch, the sooner you can get fit. You can do it!

You Aren’t Assessing
This is top for a reason.
“If you aren’t assessing, you are just guessing”.
How true is that above statement?!
If your goal was to drop 16lbs of fat in 12 weeks you ought to need to take your body fat percentage, take your weight, and take measurements with a “before” picture, and an “after” picture. If you didn’t next how would you know if you weight less, be on the look different, and have decreased person fat? You wouldn’t, so regularly assess.
Your Training Program is designed beyond your floor of athleticism
90% of people in a gym are average. There is not anything wrong with that, currently is just stating the unless you are an elite body builder, marathon runner, etc then you fall in the category of making “average”. For a gym new gym member who has had no resistance training experience, he will not have to have a 5 days split body half training routine. He’s simply not at an elite level to need to focus on so many minute details.
What I’ve found in my experience is this:
“Most people don’t even perform a sufficient amount of of the fundamentals to earn the right to focus on the super detailed aspects of a training routine”.
A basic program serves to endeavor for the majority. A complex program will only attempt for a minority.
Exercise Selection Issues
The usual gym program is awful.
Here’s a typical female workout:
10 minutes walk on a treadmill
10 minutes ride on the bike
5 minute chat
10 a good amount seconds on the treadmill
Over to the bench for a set of 35 reps provided a 1-2 lb pink free weight
Onto the floor, lift neck up and down a few times and claim to have had an “abs session”
Now here’s a typical male workout:
Warm Up:
Getting changed
Weights:
4 sets on incline chest press
3 sets on the pec dec
3 sets of bicep curls
3 more sets of bicep curls through a bench
Finish up, go home, and repeat in a couple of days for most.
I’m writing slightly tongue in cheek here, but I’m absolute we all see it happen in every gym we go in to.
Personally, I feel you need a training philosophy. Not enough people hold one.
Mine is this:
1. Body weight variation exercises before lifting extra weights
2. Standing Up instead of seated
3. Free weights rather of machines
4. Less Cardio
This works decent for me, my clients, and anybody else that has took my advice and put it into action.
Everybody Follows Everybody
Everybody in a gym do spot on the same thing. Most men & women blindly follow what they see on TV, saw in magazines of see hear on the radio. Training has changed from what i read in the 1980’s; long slow boring cardio on a treadmill will not lose you weight, nor is planning to it get you ready for the beach.
People spend needless waiting time hanging just about waiting for machines. You are coming across as in the region of 15-20 minutes of second wasted this put simply, you don’t get back. Not only performs the present waste a bunch of valuable bit and fashion a detrimental roller coaster of warming-up and cooling-down, but this long stop and go format is completely counter productive to the appropriate alternating set format and work to rest ratio to burn fat and lose weight fast- the chief goal of over 90% of fitness enthusiasts.
You Get Distracted
For most people happening to the gym is not about getting results, it’s regarding socializing.
Next time you go own a look around. Look how people suffer a sheep mentality and you am able to notice around 1% are working this behind off and getting results. The rest, aren’t doing much. Reading, talking, walking, sending text messages, you and cr it. Anything productive, they are not doing it guaranteed!
There is nothing worse as opposed to going to train hard and experience one interrupt you mid session.
Machines Have No Use in a Fat Loss Program
I or my clients haven’t used a machine in a long time.
Why? They are immensely ineffective.
They do not allow your person to train that way it was designed to move and function and they cause many overuse injuries. Machines do most the make it out for you; they allow you to sit down while the machine takes the brunt of the work. You isolate the individual muscle you are working but the rest of you relax, that proves you are missing out on some serious fat burning.
If you want a person that is planning to look good on a beach use your own body weight, or free weights. Machines will not get you a viable body. You see, when we work with our own bodyweight or with free weights we recruit a whole plethora of ‘other’ muscles, known as stabilizing muscles.
Lack of Open Space
Every gym you attend is crammed full of machines.
Why is that?
Well gym owners obviously desire to get customers in and out, more people can use the club at one time, and they is able to need to hire moderated staff to watch over the members. Personally, from a professional point of view I don’t get it. Program design does suffer, consequences suffer, machines are expensive to buy and maintain, it shuts off all the free space, and properties flat out are over rated!
Most Gym Program’s Involve Crunches
The amount of people, trainers included that are certain looks at can give a person a flat stomach is embarrassing for the Fitness Profession.
To burn fat, you need to burn calories. Laying on your back nodding your head will not impact calories. If it did, 95% of the gym populace would have an awesome set of abdominals!
Most importantly though, crunches are proven to cause back injuries. Why continue to do something that is detrimental to your health?! Repeated, loaded spinal flexion is a living cause for disk herniation.
Health is the number one thing in life we wish to give the impression after, if you injure yourself you can’t train.
If you will not train, you can’t get results.
Are your gym program’s safe? If your unsure subsequently get a coach. You don’t would like to work with them everyday but they will develop a plan for you to get the best out of your gym experience.

It’s actually a principle and it’s by far the most important factor in achieving long-term successful weight loss if you’re a woman. Progressive Overload is the most important fitness principle for your weight training program. Whether you work out in the gym or work out at home, you need to apply progressive overload to your workout if you want to see continual, long-term results.
Progressive overload can be thought of as progressively increasing the load of your program to continually add increased challenge to you over time. Doing so forces your body to continually grow, helps you break through plateaus and helps you see more and more results as time goes by. This also stops your program from becoming stale because it’s always in motion to combat our body’s greatest foe, time itself.
Think of it this way, as time tries to break down muscle, progressive overload forces you to gain muscle. Applying progressive overload helps stop, or at least dramatically slow the aging process down when it comes to muscle loss and the host of other issues that come with the loss of muscle. The reason progressive overload is especially important for women is that women are far more prone to muscle loss and at risk for musculoskeletal ailments such as osteoporosis as they age.
Here’s how to apply progressive overload. When it comes to cardio, simply go a little bit further, a bit faster or a bit more often. By a bit, we’re talking adding about 4-5% increases to your program. For example: If you were going to run 4-5% longer than your 30 minute jog, you’d end up running about 1.5 minutes longer. You could also try going faster by trying to cover 5% more distance during your 30 minute jog. It’s not a lot but, it does the job and over time, it’ll add up. If you were lifting weights, apply the same percentage of overload.
You should look to add progressive overload in 2-week increments as a general guideline. In other words, add 5% extra load every two weeks to your weight training program. Now that you’re clear on how to add progressive overload, let’s add one more guideline to your program.
You can’t add progressive overload to your work out every two weeks indefinitely. Eventually, your body is going to need a breather so here’s what you do. Follow a two steps forward, one step back pattern. For example: If you’re on a staircase, climb two steps in a row, then step back one, then climb two more. If you’re a little confused, try it on the steps and it’ll make perfect sense. When you start climbing the steps, you’ll notice that you eventually get to the top and you’ll notice that there are times when you drop back to a load you did a few steps ago. This allows your body to build a little then recover and then build a little more. It’s the perfect format for getting long-term continual results from your program.
It’s also so important workout for women format to follow because women don’t gain muscle as easily as men do. Now don’t worry, this isn’t going to ‘bulk’ you up. A very serious weight program only adds about 1 pound of muscle per month so there should be no concern regarding getting too big…it just won’t happen.
Here’s what will happen when you add progressive overload to your work out program as a woman: You’ll get thinner thighs, a tighter waist, leaner arms and smooth lines where you never thought you’d see smooth lines.
Start using this fabulous fitness principle to your advantage right away and you’re going to start enjoying these kinds of wonderful results for years to come from this women’s workout format!
Though progressive overload is the key fitness principle, there are more fitness principles that play a supporting role in helping you define and unveil that lean physique you’ve always wanted.

The new year is always flooded with resolutions, goals and hope for a more productive year, physically, personally and professionally. Almost always at the top of the list for many people is instituting some sort of weight management or weight loss system. one way to make those hopes a reality is to gather reliable information that will help you stay on track throughout the year. It doesn’t matter if you’re getting healthy tips from reading a fitness
book or an online article like this one, just as long as you’re doing something. The worst thing that you can ever do is quit on yourself this year.
But how can you stay on task for an entire year when you’re so busy with kids, school, career and the occasional vacation. Well, here’s two exercises that will help make your new year’s resolutions a reality. It requires only a pair of resistance band, and takes less than 15-minutes to complete eack workout. The workouts are short, but they are highly effective against fat.
Workout guidelines:
Most gym goers, including me used to jump into an 8 week workout routine found on any website or fitness magazine. However, many such workouts are
either way too advanced for the average person or it simply does not burn enough calories to make any real changes to your body.
Beginners should never mirror a workout found on a fitness magazine unless it specifically states that the workout program is for beginners. Resistance bands works well for both beginners and advance individuals. The reason why is because unlike other workout devices, you can change the intensity of the movement by simply changing your hold on the bands.
Beginners should perform the exercises below one time through, once per week. For the advanced individuals, execute the exercise 3 times through 2-3 times per week.
circuit training with resistance bands (3 or more exercises required)
Circuit training with resistance bands is a great way to combine strength training and cardio all at once when you’re short on time. Traditionally, the rest period between exercises in this workout is very little if any, often with rapid movement from exercise to exercise. Choose three exercise that you can do back to back with the bands like a lunge, shoulder press, and dead lift.Execute each exercise for 8-10 reps than move to the next exercise until you complete the entire set.
Superset training with resistance bands (no more than 2 resistance band exercises required)
Superset workouts involves doing back to back exercises with no rest between sets. Basically, this type of workout maximizes training intensity and allows you to work several different aspects of the muscle at the same time. For best results, train opposing muscle groups first. This approach to training allows one muscle group to recover while the opposing muscle group is working.

Perfumes and colognes are great gifts no matter the occasion. From holidays to birthdays, they’ve become a great staple that are always appreciated. So next time it’s time to purchase that special someone a gift, look no further than a great smelling fragrance. Discount perfume and cologne is the same as the types available at department stores and other brick and mortar retail locations but with the advent of online shopping, you can now pick it up at a much more pocketbook friendly price. But how do you determine which one’s the best?
Perfumes and colognes come in a wide variety of scents. It’s hard to say that any one discount perfume is exclusively male or female, even though advertising tries to define a line as best they can. Many would consider a floral smelling fragrance to be female but there are many cultures that have men still carrying fresh flowers in their pockets. The best keys to consider when trying to pick a perfume for your better half are their personality and, if they already have a favorite or two, the characteristics of those.
If they already have a favorite discount perfume or cologne, draw off of those for inspiration. Spray a bit onto a piece of paper and write down the characteristics that you smell. Believe it or not, the same fragrance can have a different smell to it depending on the person who’s wearing it so by using a piece of paper, this will help you examine it on a ‘clean slate’. Take note of characteristics and how you would describe them. Is the cologne musky, spicy, or earthy? Does the perfume have a floral smell to it or possibly a fruity smell? From there, combine these characteristics with the descriptions to see what might be a best fit. If you are completely lost, most discount perfume vendors have skilled customer service representatives that can help you narrow the search down based on the fragrance’s attributes and brand.
Generically speaking, younger women are drawn to fruitier perfumes. Earthy perfumes get draw from athletic women and the younger crowd. Floral perfumes are of the oldest types but can be worn by people of all ages. In the end, it also may be better to visit a department store or similar type store to get some ideas of their likes and dislikes. If you can narrow it down to a few brands, you can always return to the online store for discount perfume later and will easily be able to find what it was they enjoyed the best. And there’s always the option of purchasing them a bottle of their favorite. However you decide to choose, it will be a gift that will be appreciated.

When you feel like doing something special for you signefigant other,One thing will always make her happy. A bottle of good qality perfume is always apprecaited and will last a long time. Wait you say, Doesn’t quality perfume cost a fortune. You may be suprised to know you can purchase high quality discount perfume easily.
Let’s look at a few options:
* As with anything you can find perfume that is considered to be “seconds”. This just means there may be something wrong with the packaging and it is not up to the high standerds of the manufacturer. Sometimes this slips buy the quality control of the manufacturer and they allow the retailer to sell at a better price.
* Many fragerances do not sell well. This could be the region of the country or many other factors. In order to make room for a new fragerance the retailer will move these to the dicount perfume rack. The quality is still good but now they are more affordable.
* Some perfumes target certain seasons and have to be sold in anticipation of the coming new season be moved out of the approach of the new season. Some fragranses that are appropriate for the holiday season may not be what a women wants to wear at the beach in the summer.
* This idea is certainly not for everyone. If you are a women looking to get free perfume you could consider being a distributor for a group like Avon. Who knows you might even make some money along with free perfume.
* If having the exact scent of the perfume you are looking for is not critical you can but imitation scents at discount and dollar stores. These perfumes are often produced by small companies that copy the fragerance and pack them to look like designer perfumes. You can find these cheap perfumes by looking at the package for statements like “compare to” imitation perfumes generally do not smell exactly like the original, but for their price, it’s a good deal.

As early as in the adolescence, teenagers have to learn to take care of themselves and be responsible about their health and fitness. However, many young people find it hard to discipline themselves thinking that it is too restricting or too tedious. They still don’t have much motivation because they are still in this transition stage from childhood to being young adults. It is also rather difficult to make these kids move around a bit and do exercises and they really are not very much concerned yet with the benefits of a healthy body.
However, there is good news for any teen. There are a lot of fitness tips for teens available, and at the same time, do not feel that you have to be serious about workouts or dieting. All you have to do is to incorporate little new things in your daily routine to help get you started. Starting small has a long way to go, what is important is that these teens are able to show concern to getting fit.
First tip is to be mobile. What does this mean? As we know, teens love lounging around the house, sitting in front of the television set the whole day or burning their asses of in front of the computer while gaining weight. Little by little, teens must learn how to put an end to their sedentary lifestyle and start being healthy. To keep fit, one must continually burn the calories that we take into our bodies and by doing non-strenuous forms of exercise, teens would be able to do physical activity without noticing the effort.
They could start small by walking around the neighborhood to run errands or helping in the household chores. They could also slowly incorporate sports in their lifestyle which does not necessarily have to be too physically demanding. The important thing is that they enjoy the sport so that they do not feel that the training is a requirement to help them stay fit. This is good because not only do they unconsciously keep themselves healthy and in shape, they also find a new hobby to spend their leisure time with. To make it more fun, they could play with a friend or jog with a neighbor. In this way, they would get more motivated and they would likely forget that they do this for health reasons.
The other part of this fitness tips for teens would be about their eating habits. Teens love to eat non-healthy food such as junk, sodas, and sweets. So, it is not a very good idea to put them into strict diet plans because it needs extreme discipline and they might just end up gaining more pounds because they could not keep up with the diet plan. To start with, the best thing to do is to slowly eliminate junk from your diet but do not quit cold turkey. Teens can have some on cheat days. Just make sure that they consume them in moderation.
Also, start eating healthy by learning how to eat vegetables and fruits. Also, teens could be influenced by fad diets that they must have probably seen on TV or knew through the Internet. Avoid losing control of the situation for they might just starve themselves. The key here is to eat healthy food more often during the day instead of skipping breakfast and binging out on other meals. Teens should also take in more fluids but not in the form of sodas or other unhealthy products. Water is the safest and also most inexpensive but they could also drink fresh fruit juices.
The most important part here is to learn controlling the self and manage their own health. It is a good thing to start early with any workout because they would learn later on that this would greatly contribute to their overall health and wellbeing. Parents of teenagers must also be there as support to guide them with this task that they will be going through.
